Charles Russell Speechlys has acted as the legal adviser to the management team of Blackrock Programme Management (“Blackrock PM”), the construction dispute specialist on the investment in the company by Dunedin LLP.
Blackrock PM is a professional services firm that provides independent expert witness and construction consulting services for large international construction projects.
The London based company has increased turnover tenfold from £1 million to £10 million between 2010 and 2014, and is expecting further significant growth in 2015.
Blackrock PM has a strong pipeline of high profile contracts and is currently advising on over $4 billion of construction disputes. The company has advised on many high profile projects in London and globally including The Shard, Blackfriars Bridge, Heathrow Airport and the East London Line.
David Barry, Principal of Blackrock PM said:
“This was a relatively complex transaction that was completed in a very short period of time. A key reason for that timely completion was the clear, effective and prompt legal advice provided by the CRS team.
“Malcolm MacDougall and Richard Coleman proved to be of great value and they had the knack of explaining complex legal instruments in practical and common sense terms which provided the management team with confidence that our interests were both substantively aligned with the investor and appropriately protected.
“I would have no hesitation in recommending CRS to other parties considering transactions of this type”.
Commenting on the transaction, Malcolm MacDougall, Partner and head of the Private Equity group at Charles Russell Speechlys, said:
"We are delighted to have advised David and his team on the investment by Dunedin. Blackrock is an exciting business and we are looking forward to working with the business as it pursues an active expansion strategy.”
The Charles Russell Speechlys team was led by head of Private Equity Malcolm MacDougall and Private Equity Associates Richard Coleman and Emily Davies, and included members of the Tax and Employment teams.
