07 Apr 2014

Olswang has acted as lead advisor to CareerBuilder, the global leader in human capital solutions, in relation to its cross-jurisdictional acquisition of the English, U.S. and Australian companies which form the Broadbean Group from subsidiaries of Daily Mail and General Trust plc.

Broadbean is a leader in job distribution, candidate sourcing and big data analytics software, which posts jobs on more than 6,000 job boards and social networks in 183 countries and has more than 60,000 users.  Broadbean's offices are located in London, the U.S., Australia, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

The acquisition is viewed by Chicago-based CareerBuilder as the latest step in its evolution as the premier HR Software as a Service (SaaS) provider, giving recruiters and HR managers a faster, more convenient and more cost-effective way to acquire talent.

CareerBuilder's General Counsel, Alex Green, commented:"The acquisition unites two technology leaders that can bring a whole new world of possibility to the recruitment space.  This is an exciting time for our company and our clients as we expand our global platform and deliver software solutions with greater market insights, wider distribution and one simple workflow."

Corporate partner and Joint Head of Technology, Tony Waller, who led the Olswang team, commented: "CareerBuilder has been a long term client to the firm and we are delighted to have helped with this important next step in the company's development."

Tony Waller ran the transaction with assistance from Ken Wilkinson, Anabel Moore-Brabazon, Charlie Turnham and Ejiro Andrew-Ukoko (corporate), Ross McKean and Alvin Chan (commercial), Matthew Wentworth-May (tax), Gary Henderson and Rachel Lafferty (employment), Toby Gribbin (property), Andrew Campbell (pensions) and Luke Pardey (litigation).
