Clifford Chance advised Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. (NSENGI) on the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Fisia Babcock Environment GmbH (FBE), Gummersbach (Germany), from Salini Impregilo S.p.A., Milan, for EUR 139 million. The transaction is subject to clearance from the cartel authorities.
By way of this investment, NSENGI is extending its European activities in the environmental engineering sector. NSENGI, with 42 reference plants (40 plants in Japan, 2 plants in South Korea), is the world´s leading supplier of waste gasification and melting technology with its Direct Melting System (DMS) technology.
FBE is an environmental plant engineering company and one of the leading companies in environmental technology in Europe. Its primary business are energy-from-waste (EfW) plants based on grate incineration technology (grate), and among others, flue gas treatment plants for industrial processes and thermal power plants.
