Simmons & Simmons has advised Fugro on the acquisition of the Geofor group of companies based in Mauritius, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) and São Tomé e Principe. In addition to its business in those countries, Geofor also has significant experience in Niger, Chad and Equatorial Guinea.
Geofor is an onshore/nearshore geotechnical group providing drilling services delivered by highly specialised engineers and geologists in the fields of geotechnical consulting, hydrology and land surveys.
The acquisition of the Geofor group strengthens Furgo’s presence in Central Africa and in French speaking West Africa. It represents a significant milestone in Fugro’s growth strategy in Africa.
Commenting on the transaction, corporate partner Christian Taylor said “we were pleased to advise Fugro on this strategically important acquisition. The transaction is closely aligned with our focus as a firm in the energy and infrastructure sector in Africa, and builds on our track record in that area. This is the second acquisition that we have closed for Fugro, having recently advised on the acquisition of the Geoter business in France and Africa.”
The Simmons & Simmons core team comprised Christian Taylor (corporate partner), Taous Mabed (corporate managing associate), Clio Dubus (corporate associate), Laurence Renard (employment partner), Claire le Touzé (employment managing associate) and Christine Carbonnel (real estate counsel).
The seller was advised by CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre and KGA Avocats.
