Freshfields advises Pearson on US$300m sale of Wall Street English

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) is advising Pearson plc on the sale of Wall Street English, a global English language education business, to a consortium of private equity funds managed and advised by Baring Private Equity Asia and CITIC Capital, for a total consideration of approximately US$300m.

The sale, which is part of Pearson Plc’s recent drive to streamline its business lines, was announced on 27 November 2017, following the signing of the SPA. The transaction is still subject to regulatory approval.

The Freshfields team was led by global transactions partner Philip Li and counsel Yuxin Shen, tax partner Paul Davison, IP/IT partner Richard Bird and antitrust counsel Ninette Dodoo.
