DWF advises Sofology on £25m sale to DFS

06 Dec 2017

DWF has advised specialist sofa retailer Sofology Ltd on its multimillion pound sale to DFS following clearance from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

International legal business DWF has advised specialist sofa retailer Sofology Ltd on its multimillion pound sale to DFS following clearance from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

The completion of the sale takes place just months after DWF lawyers advised the 37-strong store chain when DFS struck the £25m acquisition deal in August.

With a strong web presence, Sofology offers customers a technology-led omni-channel proposition and today's takeover will see DFS further extend its offer to customers with Sofology's strong portfolio of furniture brands.

DFS is the UK's market leading retailer of living room and upholstered furniture, operating a retail network of living room furniture stores in Britain and Europe, together with an online channel.

Jonathan Robinson, DWF Head of Private Equity, advised Sofology on the deal with support from senior associate Darren Ormsby, senior associate James Cashman, solicitor Francesca Kinsella and trainee solicitor Ciara Healy.

Jonathan said: "It's been a pleasure to work with our long-standing client Sofology throughout the completion of this deal. We're looking forward to seeing the business grow and build upon the great progress it has made to date. The deal demonstrates our continued focus on the retail sector and our dedication to our clients."
