Taylor Wessing advises Goodgame Studios on €270 million acquisition by Stillfront

11 Dec 2017

Taylor Wessing has advised Altigi GmbH, holding company of the Hamburg-based game developer Goodgame Studios on its acquisition by the Swedish gaming company Stillfront Group for €270 million.

Goodgame Studios is a highly successful developer, with a focus on free-to-play strategy games for mobile and browser platforms. Its two blockbuster IPs, Goodgame Empire and Big Farm have contributed to the studio’s strong financial success. The deal will see Goodgame Studios become a key part of Stillfront’s fast-growing group of indie developers and publishers, with Goodgame’s co-founder and Managing Director, Dr Cristian Wawrzinek, joining Stillfront’s Board of Directors.

Mike Turner, International Head of Technology, Media & Communications at Taylor Wessing, who led on the deal, said:

“This was a very exciting deal to work on. Goodgame Studios makes some truly excellent games with an army of passionate players, and it’s no wonder that Stillfront saw so much value in them. This was a deal tailor-made for Taylor Wessing, leveraging our market-leading knowledge of the mobile gaming space and the breadth of our international reach.”

Kai Wawrzinek, co-founder and CEO of Goodgame Studios, said:

“I am very excited about the merger with Stillfront. Combining portfolios and leveraging our knowledge in marketing and distribution will be a great formula for success. I’m looking forward to a bright future together. I want to thank Mike Turner and his team at Taylor Wessing for their outstanding work on this deal.”
