WFW advises PNE WIND AG on the acquisition of three offshore wind farm projects

Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised PNE WIND AG (“PNE”) on the acquisition of three offshore projects from BARD Engineering GmbH.

The three acquired offshore projects are located in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the North Sea. According to current plans 240 wind energy plants with a capacity of 5 MW each are expected to be built.

Burges Salmon advises on Europe's largest tidal renewable energy project

Burges Salmon has advised MeyGen in helping it secure consent for the 86MW Phase 1 Pentland Firth tidal generation development. The MeyGen project, which is the largest tidal scheme to have been consented in Europe, will consist of up to 400, 1MW turbines that will generate enough energy to power 400,000 homes. They will be situated in approximately 3.5km2 of the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth off the north coast of Scotland between Caithness on the Scottish mainland and the Island of Stroma.

WFW advises Bayerngas UK Ltd on proposed acquisition of an interest in the Babbage Gas Field in the North Sea

Located in the UK Southern North Sea, the Babbage Field has been producing gas since 2010.

Jones Day has successfully defended Texas Keystone Inc., a U.S. oil and gas company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, against Excalibur Ventures' ("Excalibur") $1.6 billion claim for an interest in various petroleum fields in Iraqi Kurdistan. The 57 day trial was the longest and one of the most complex held in London’s Commercial Court this judicial year.

Bird & Bird Madrid's energy team, led by Hermenegildo Altozano (partner Energy and Utilities Madrid) and also comprising Alfonso Bayona (Counsel Energy and Utilities Madrid), has recently advised Enagás Internacional, S.L., Enagás, S.A. and Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. on the incorporation of a Chilean joint venture (in which Enagás shall hold 51% of the shares) for the acquisition of a 40% interest stake in the company GNL Quintero S.A. holding all rights and interests in the LNG terminal of Quintero (Chile).

DLA Piper represents Oasis Petroleum in US$1.5 billion acquisition of assets in the Williston Basin

DLA Piper represented Oasis Petroleum Inc., an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company, in its recently announced purchases of Bakken assets totaling more than US$1.5 billion. As reported, the combined acquisitions encompass approximately 161,000 net acres and are located in the Williston Basin, which extends from Saskatchewan, Canada in the north to South Dakota in the south.

In addition, the firm assisted with the semi-annual redetermination of the borrowing base, which led to an increase from US$1.25 billion to US$1.5 billion.

Weil Advises Apache in $3.1 Billion Sale of Egypt Energy Stake to Sinopec

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges is representing Houston-based oil and gas producer Apache Corporation in the sale of a 33 percent stake in its Egyptian oil and gas business to China’s Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (Sinopec). Apache’s Egyptian production in 2012 totaled an average of 100,000 barrels of oil and 354 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, while providing employment for about 9,000 people in Egypt, where the company has two decades of industry experience.
