Norton Rose Fulbright advises Tenaga Nasional Berhad on US$750m sukuk issuance

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”), Malaysia’s largest electricity utility company, on a ten-year US$750 million sukuk issuance, which closed on November 1, 2018. The sukuk was issued via TNB’s wholly-owned Malaysian-incorporated special purpose company, TNB Global Ventures Capital Berhad.

Clifford Chance and its cooperation firm in Saudi Arabia Abuhimed Alsheikh Alhagbani Law Firm (AS&H) advised HSBC Saudi Arabia, The Saudi British Bank and Al Rajhi Bank on the SAR 1,200,000,000 Islamic financing to Saudi Airlines Cargo Company (SACC), which signed on 10 September 2018. The financing will be used to fund the expansion of SACC’s cargo facilities at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

Ashurst advises Renewi on refinancing of existing €550m banking facilities within innovative long term Green Framework

International law firm Ashurst is advising Renewi plc, the international waste-to-product company, on an amendment and extension to its main banking facility, converting it to a €550 million Green Loan. Renewi is one of the first FTSE250 companies to refinance its entire bank borrowings using green certification.

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Al Rayan Bank Plc (Al Rayan) on a £250 million Shariah-compliant securitisation of home purchase plans (HPPs). The firm acted as structuring and documentation counsel.

The transaction, Tolkien Funding Sukuk No. 1 Plc (Tolkien), is the first Shariah-compliant public HPP backed securitisation in the UK. It is also the first public securitisation in the UK to be issued under the UK’s “alternative finance arrangements” regime designed to facilitate Shariah-compliant securitisations.
