BSI / EFG International and Swisscanto ZKB close real estate asset swap

21 Apr 2017

The pension fund of Swiss private banking group BSI and Swisscanto asked Pestalozzi to advice on a transfer of the BSI pension fund's complete portfolio of direct real estate investments worth about CHF 130 million. The transfer was made in exchange for shares in a regulated Swisscanto real estate fund.

BSI is a member of EFG International. EFG International is a global private banking group headquartered in Zurich that operates in around 30 locations worldwide, and its shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Swisscanto is the investment fund products, pension products and asset management arm of ZKB Zürcher Kantonalbank. ZKB Zürcher Kantonalbank is a leading universal bank, and one of the three biggest Swiss banks.

Pestalozzi advised on all tax and real estate law aspects of the transaction and negotiated with the tax authorities a way for the real estate asset swap to be made in a tax neutral way.
