CMS advises Belgian real estate investor Cofinimmo on portfolio transaction involving 17 care home properties

Stuttgart – Listed Belgian real estate company Cofinimmo SA has acquired 17 care home properties spread across four German federal states in a portfolio deal. The vendor is a joint venture of European private equity firm Revcap. All 17 care homes are operated by Stella Vitalis GmbH under long-term leases. The acquired portfolio is valued at EUR 172 million.

A CMS team headed by partners Dr Peter Baisch and Dr Stefan Voß advised Cofinimmo on all aspects of real estate, corporate and tax law in regard to the transaction, as well as providing legal support on finance law issues. CMS is regularly instructed by Cofinimmo. This transaction boosts the value of Cofinimmo’s healthcare property portfolio in Germany to more than EUR 330 million.

Brussels-based Cofinimmo SA is a leading Belgian property company that specialises in healthcare real estate, offices and sales distribution networks, such as cafés and restaurants. The company has a property portfolio worth around EUR 3.4 billion and operates in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Germany.

Private equity firm Revcap describes itself as a leading European private equity fund manager. Since its formation in 2004, it has invested more than EUR 2 billion of joint venture capital in real estate.
