Eversheds advises SunEdison on acquisition of energy efficiency company

24 Jul 2015

Eversheds has advised SunEdison on the acquisition of Mark Group, a full service energy solutions provider based in Leicester. Mark Group had previously been a SunEdison solar sales and installation partner.

Mark Group currently offers approximately two million UK customers energy-efficient solar systems, heating systems, and insulation products. This acquisition will open up a direct sales channel to the UK residential and commercial solar business.

Eversheds advised SunEdison throughout the transaction. The team was led by Partners Stephen Hill and Antony Walsh assisted by Associates Lee Harris, Adam Smith and Charlotte Singh.

The acquisition follows SunEdison’s announcement at the beginning of the year that it would move to bring solar energy to residential and commercial sectors in the UK, which included the launch of the SunEdison Energy Saver Plan.

Stephen Hill commented:

“As the renewable energy sector becomes increasingly buoyant, this acquisition is great news for SunEdison, a longstanding client, as it continues to grow its portfolio. As leading experts in the sector, we are pleased to have advised on this latest acquisition.”

Geldards LLP and PWC advised the shareholders of the Mark Group.
