Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised China Media Capital (CMC) on its investment in City Football Group (City Football), the owner of various football clubs including Manchester City FC.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised China Media Capital (CMC) on its investment in City Football Group (City Football), the owner of various football clubs including Manchester City FC.

Under the terms of the transaction, CMC and CITIC Capital will invest US$400 million to acquire a minority stake of approximately 13% in City Football. The transaction values City Football at approximately US$3 billion.

City Football has ownership interests in Manchester City FC, New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F. Marinos.
The Freshfields team advising on the transaction was led by corporate partner Edward Freeman.
