Freshfields has advised EQT VI Limited, a fund held by private equity firm EQT, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Nordic Aviation Capital. Nordic Aviation Capital is a leading aircraft leasing company based in Denmark and is the world's largest lessor of turboprop aircraft to the airline industry, with a fleet of almost 250 aircraft and a customer base of more than 40 airlines in 30 different countries.
Global head of the firm’s aviation team Rob Murphy led the deal, supported by finance partner Ian Frost and senior associate Jenny McIvor. The Freshfields team worked alongside EQT's Danish counsel Accura, whose team was led by Thomas Weincke.
Freshfields has a longstanding track record advising on transactions in the aviation sector. It acts for leading aircraft leasing companies and has acted on the largest corporate transactions involving aircraft leasing companies, most recently advising AerCap on the ILFC acquisition and Avolon/Avolon sponsors on various corporate matters, including in relation to the Avolon IPO.
