Freshfields Represents Alitalia in US Bankruptcy Case

20 Jun 2017

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP ('Freshfields') has announced that the firm is advising Alitalia on its US restructuring. The Italian airline sought Chapter 15 protection in US Bankruptcy Court in New York on June 13, 2017.

Court papers filed show that Alitalia’s US operations account for approximately 30 percent of its total revenue. Italy’s government has agreed to provide $673 million in emergency financing to keep the airline operating while it searches to find a buyer. Alitalia filed for bankruptcy in Italy last month.

Leading the Freshfields team are restructuring and insolvency partners Madlyn Primoff and Scott Talmadge, with Senior Associate Scott Eisman. Primoff and Talmadge, along with fellow partner Mark Liscio, joined Freshfields in April to lead the firm’s first US-based R&I practice.
