Matheson is advising NYSE listed Aramark, the global provider of award-winning services in food, facilities management and uniform on its purchase of one of Ireland’s most successful retailers, Avoca. The deal, which was announced last week, sees the Pratt family remain involved in the future development of the company. The transaction, which is subject to review by Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Authority, is valued at €60 million.

The Matheson team advising Aramark was led by Corporate partner Éanna Mellett with Tax partner Alan Connell and Property partner Brian Doran. This transaction further illustrates Matheson’s track record of advising on high profile international transactions. Significant recent mandates also include advising Allergan Pharmaceuticals on its $66 billion merger with Actavis, Willis on its $18 billion merger with Towers Watson and Dyax on its US$5.9 billion sale to UK listed pharmaceutical company Shire.
