At the beginning of January, the Polish office of Eversheds Sutherland was joined by a new five-person team specialising in mergers and acquisitions, led by Tomasz Zak. The addition of the new team has significantly strengthened the firm's Corporate and M&A practice, which now consists of 15 lawyers.
Tomasz Zak, an established transactional lawyer with over 20 years of professional experience, who before joining Eversheds Sutherland was the head of the M&A practice at the Warsaw office of Hogan Lovells, will lead, as a Partner, the new team that includes: Tomasz Pietrzak (Counsel), Leonart Szanajca-Kossakowski (Senior Associate), Aleksandra Filipiak (Lawyer) and Hubert Jurczyk (Lawyer).
The team advises international and national clients on large and complex M&A transactions, core corporate advisory matters, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and private equity transactions. His arrival enhances the firm’s corporate transactional capabilities in Warsaw, whilst adding further depth to client offerings in Europe and on cross-border transactions.

He also has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, including mergers and transformations of companies, often in cross-border projects. He also deals with insolvency and restructuring law. He has provided training to company boards on the duties and responsibilities of board members. Tomasz was nominated for the Rising Stars - Lawyers Leaders of Tomorrow 2021 award.
Leonart Szanajca-Kossakowskihas significant experience in M&A transactions, private equity, joint ventures and restructuring of groups of companies and enterprises. He has also advised on issues related to competition law, labour law and intellectual property. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Warsaw and the Centre for American Law. He also studied at the University of Strasbourg, specialising in European, company and intellectual property law.
Aleksandra Filipiak provides day-to-day support to Polish and international companies in matters related to corporate law and day-to-day corporate services. She has experience in due diligence analyses, preparation of transaction documentation and conducting registration proceedings. She graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law at the University of Warsaw and studied at the University of Luxembourg as an exchange student, with a focus on European business law.
Hubert Jurczyk predominantly advises Polish and foreign clients on M&A transactions, corporate and commercial law and commercial contracts. He has experience in providing legal services to companies and supporting clients from various industries, including e-commerce and defence. He is involved in due diligence, preparation of corporate documentation and commercial contracts, and registration matters. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University
