Global law firm Dentons has strengthened its capabilities in the technology and communications sectors with the recruitment of Zdeněk Kučera as a partner and Head of the Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) group in Prague. He joins with his team of three associates: Štěpánka Havlíková, Blanka Crháková and Jiří Maršál.
Zdeněk Kučera has more than 15 years’ experience in complex projects, acquisitions of IT companies, and technology disputes. He advises clients on software law, electronic contracting, internet liability, personal data protection, intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, and media law. His clients include global corporations operating in the IT and e-commerce, financial, communications, media, and defense industries. He is ranked as a leading lawyer for TMT in the Czech Republic by international legal directory Chambers Europe.
He and the team join from Kinstellar, where Kučera was a Co-head of the European TMT group.
The new team complements Dentons’ existing cross-practice TMT group, which includes partners Ladislav Smejkal and Tomáš Bílek and associate Michael Mráček who advise on data protection and compliance; senior associate Adam Přerovský and associate Petr Müller, who advise on competition law and e-commerce; and Vojtěch Novák and Barbora Obračajová which advise on M&A and all other aspects of start-ups businesses. In addition, associate Tomáš Pavelka, who advises TMT companies on competition and antitrust issues, joined Dentons in 2021.
The strategic hire of Zdeněk Kučera and his TMT team marks yet another significant milestone in our strategy to strengthen our position as the leading global legal advisor on the Prague market, said Petr Zákoucký, Czech Managing Partner at Dentons. “The addition of Zdeněk’s TMT team, combined with the complementary skills of our existing lawyers, gives Dentons one of the largest TMT teams on the Czech market. This will allow us to provide full scope legal advisory to address the growing needs of our clients in the area of the technology, media and communications.”
Zdeněk Kučera commented on his move: My clients increasingly seek legal advice all around the world, and that's where Dentons’ top geographical coverage is a great fit.. Dentons also has great TMT expertise across the board, combined with start-up advisory in major technology hubs in Europe and the US which is a must for local start-ups attracting capital from those locations.
