Telstra acquires Videoplaza

The Australian telecommunications company Telstra has acquired Videoplaza AB via Ooyala, Telstra’s recently acquired streaming video distribution platform in the United States.

Videoplaza was established in 2007 and is a leader in video advertising technology, delivering ads to viewers across all devices. Videoplaza’s majority shareholders prior to the acquisition included the company’s founders and the Swedish private equity firms Creandum and Northzone.

Telstra and Ooyala were advised by Mannheimer Swartling. The firm’s team consisted primarily of Isabella Ramsay, Terese Holmqvist, Joel Englund, Hanna Walukiewicz, Viktor Leisnert and Filip Lodding (M&A), Emil Albihn Henriksson (IMM), and Anders Erasmie and Nicklas Hagbard (tax). Herbert Smith Freehills advised on US and Australian law in the matter.
