WFW advises wpd offshore on its joint tender with EDF Energies Nouvelles for the second French offshore wind project

18 Dec 2013

Watson, Farley & Williams has advised wpd offshore, the independent German energy group specialising in offshore wind energy, in connection with its joint venture with EDF Energies Nouvelles in their bid for the second offshore wind project, following the call for tenders launched by the French government in May 2013.

On 29 November 2013, this European consortium filed two offers for the construction and operation of two large-scale offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 1,000 MW to be located off Le Treport in the Haute Normandie region, and between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier in the Pays de la Loire region. They are due to be brought into service between 2021 and 2023.

EDF Energies Nouvelles and wpd offshire have chosen to work again with Alstom as the exclusive supplier of the turbines after many years of collaboration in the three projects won together during the first call for tenders (3,500 MW).

WFW advised wpd offshore on all the legal aspects of the structuring and setting up of the partnership with EDF Energies Nouvelles.

WFW Paris partner, Vincent Trevisani (Corporate) who had previously advised wpd offshore on the French government's first call for tenders, led the team and was supported by associates, Clemence Halpern, Félicien Bardsley and Ines Garcia de las Bayonas
