Clifford Chance advises EnergieSüdpfalz on a wind energy project with juwi renewable IPP

Clifford Chance has advised EnergieSüdpfalz GmbH and Co. KG on a joint wind energy project with juwi renewable IPP, a subsidiary of juwi Holding AG. The companies will be acting as joint operators of the "Offenbach an der Queich II" wind farm, which is due to come online by the middle of the year. The site is set to produce more than 40 million kWh of electricity each year, which is enough power to meet the needs of almost 14,000 homes in southern Rhineland-Palatinate.

WFW advises PNE WIND AG on the sale of the Calau IIA wind farm and the financing of nine onshore wind farm projects

Watson, Farley & Williams has advised PNE WIND AG (“PNE”) on the sale of the Calau IIA wind farm in Brandenburg, Germany, as well as on the financing of nine onshore wind farm projects in Lower Saxony and Brandenburg with a total financing volume of €192.8 million.

PNE sold the Calau IIA wind farm to the Hamburg-based holding company CEE. WFW advised PNE on contract negotiations, which were successfully completed by the end of 2013.

Mayer Brown represents Halcón Resources Corporation on $400 million high yield tap offering

Mayer Brown represented Halcón Resources Corporation, an independent energy company focused on the acquisition, production, exploration and development of onshore liquids-rich oil and natural gas assets in the United States, in connection with the offering and issuance of $400 million in aggregate principal amount of its 9.75% senior unsecured notes due 2020. Barclays Capital Inc. and Wells Fargo Securities, LLC acted as the initial purchasers in the offering.

Dentons advises as Total becomes the first major to enter into shale gas licences in the UK

Dentons has advised Total on its acquisition of a 40% interest in two shale gas exploration licences in the United Kingdom. The interests are in the Gainsborough Trough area of the East Midlands which cover an area of 240 km2. The deal was announced on 13 January 2014 and sees Total become the first major to invest in shale gas in the UK.

BLP High Court Victory for Client Gas Storage project

Halite Energy Group has won its judicial review case against the decision to refuse development consent for its gas storage project. BLP client Halite’s application was for a development consent order (DCO) under the new Planning Act 2008 procedures. The scheme – a nationally significant infrastructure project under the 2008 Act – would allow for the construction of up to 19 caverns in the halite deposits at Preesall, Lancashire. This would result in a working storage capacity of up to 600 million cubic metres of gas.

WFW advises Dalkia France on the sale of its stake in Régaz operator of the regulated gas distribution network for the French city of Bordeaux

Watson, Farley & Williams has advised Dalkia France, the French energy services specialist and subsidiary of Veolia Environnement and EDF, on the sale of its 24% stake in the Régaz-Bordeaux Group which operates the gas distribution network supplying 46 towns (“communes”) in the Greater Bordeaux area. 

Régaz-Bordeaux is the largest independent gas distributor in France with a network of 3,315 km and 210,000 delivery points.

$200m equity investment by The Carlyle Group in Discover Exploration

Lawrence Graham has advised Discover Exploration Limited ("Discover") in relation to an equity investment of up to US$200m by Carlyle International Energy Partners ("CIEP"), an oil & gas exploration fund managed by global alternative asset manager, The Carlyle Group.

This substantial equity investment will fund Discover's near-term, high-impact drilling programme offshore New Zealand alongside operating partner Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and will provide working capital to develop new opportunities and grow the business.

Nabarro acts on $290m wind farm first for Jordan

Nabarro has advised the developer on the first large scale on-shore wind farm project to close in Jordan, with project financing secured from major international lenders and investors. This is the first project in Jordan's renewable energy programme to close and one of a number on which Nabarro is acting.

The Tafila wind farm is being developed by the Jordan Wind Project Company PSC, which comprises EP Global Energy (EPGE), the Euro-Mediterranean fund InfraMed and Masdar of Abu Dhabi.
