Olswang advises indie production company 72 Films on BBC Worldwide's minority stake acquisition

International TMT law firm Olswang has advised independent factual production company 72 Films, headed by senior TV industry figures, David Glover and Mark Raphael, on the recent investment made by BBC Worldwide into the company. BBC Worldwide will acquire a minority equity stake and the global distribution rights to all content developed by 72 Films.

Gowling WLG advises Hyperoptic on investment from EIB to deliver superfast broadband

Gowling WLG client Hyperoptic has secured an investment of £21 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help it provide 1 Gbps fibre broadband to more than half a million homes across the UK.

EIB's investment comes alongside that of Quantum Strategic Partners Limited, a private investment fund managed by Soros Fund Management LLC, and brings the total amount invested in Hyperoptic and fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband to £75 million.

China Everbright’s Disposal of 49% Share Capital of Everbright Securities (International) Limited

Hong Kong – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that it represented China Everbright Limited (“China Everbright”) in its US$120 million disposal of 49% of the share capital of Everbright Securities (International) Limited to Everbright Securities Financial Holdings Limited.

China Everbright, a member of state-owned enterprise China Everbright Group, is a Hong Kong listed conglomerate focusing on cross-border asset management and investment.

Vinge advises Vostok New Ventures Ltd in connection with an investment in the ride-sharing service BlaBlaCar

Vinge has advised Vostok New Ventures Ltd (”Vostok”) in connection with an investment in the Paris based ride-sharing service Comuto SA (”BlaBlaCar”). Through the investment, Vostok has acquired shares in BlaBlaCar for a value of approximately EUR 40 million. The acquisition was made by an issue in kind where the purchase price for the shares in BlaBlaCar consisted of 6,866,766 newly issued shares in Vostok.

Noerr advises shareholders on investment in Frimo by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG

Noerr has advised the managing shareholders of FRIMO Group GmbH (Frimo) on an investment by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) in the company. DBAG and DBAG Fund VI will acquire a majority interest in Frimo in a management buyout. The remaining shares will be held by the company’s management, including the two managing shareholders Hans-Günter Bayer and Rainer Wittkorn. They will reinvest in Frimo and together hold a 20 per cent interest.

The competition authorities still have to approve the transaction.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised a joint venture of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) on the acquisition and development of a biomass-fired combined heat and power plant project in Kent. The total investment in the Kent project will amount to approximately GBP 160m.
