Travers Smith advises Estover Energy in connection with the £138 million financing of the Cramlington biomass combined heat and power plant

Travers Smith LLP has advised existing client Estover Energy in connection with the financing of a new biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in Cramlington, Northumberland, which is due to be completed by Estover by late 2017.

The Cramlington CHP will supply electricity and heat to local businesses, as well as provide low carbon electricity to the National Grid. The 27.7MWe plant will power the equivalent of 52,000 homes and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of taking 25,000 cars off the road per year.

Shoosmiths acted for the management team of Coryton Advanced Fuels Limited, the market-leading fuel blending and consultancy services business, on a significant investment from Lyceum Capital to accelerate its international expansion.

The investment will enable the company to grow its range of added-value services and production capacity in the UK, develop existing export markets in Germany and expand into new markets in the US and Asia.

Hogan Lovells advises EDF on its bond issue in Taiwan

Hogan Lovells has advised EDF on the first bond issue in USD ever launched by a European corporate in Taiwan ("Formosa bond") with a 30-year maturity for a total amount of 1.5 billion USD.

Through this bond issue, which is part of EDF's Euro Medium Term Notes (EMTN) program governed by French law, EDF raised 1.5 billion USD. This is the largest bond issue ever carried out by a foreign group in Taiwan.

King & Wood Mallesons has advised Weichai Power Co., Ltd. (Weichai Power) as its international counsel on its offering of US$400,000,000 4.125% guaranteed bonds due 2020. The bonds are issued by Weichai International Hong Kong Energy Group Co., Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Weichai Power, and are unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by Weichai Power. The bonds will be listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

King & Wood Mallesons has acted on Origin Energy Limited’s pro rata accelerated renounceable entitlement offer (with retail rights trading) (PAITREO) of new ordinary shares to existing shareholders, advising the lead manager Macquarie Capital (Australia) Limited.

The offer consists of an accelerated institutional rights issue and a retail rights issue (including retail rights trading) to raise approximately $2.5 billion.

Ashurst advised Enel Green Power on the acquisition of a majority stake in Indian wind and solar power producer BLP Energy, which is one of the largest renewable energy companies in India with wind plants having a total capacity of 172 MW and a portfolio of approximately 600 MW of wind projects in different stages of development.

With this transaction Enel Green Power enters the Indian renewables market, marking the Enel Group's first move into the Asia-Pacific region thus reaching more than 10 GW of net installed capacity globally.

Saudi Aramco will hold a 50% stake in the joint venture company with specialty chemicals company Lanxess contributing its business divisions Tire & Speciality Rubbers and High Performance Elastomers.
