Burges Salmon advises Cramlington on new CHP project with Aesica

Energy sector experts from Burges Salmon have advised Estover Energy Limited and Cramlington Renewable Energy Developments Limited (CREDL) on the development of a new biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant adjacent to the Aesica Pharmaceuticals Limited site in Cramlington, Northumberland.

The Burges Salmon team, led by Energy sector partner Nick Churchward advised Estover and latterly project development vehicle CREDL on energy regulatory, private electricity and heat supply arrangements, grid, planning, environment and real estate matters.

Eversheds wins £4.5 million National Grid case

Eversheds has successfully defended National Grid in a £4.5 million compensation reference to the Upper Tribunal Lands Chamber.

The Claim arose following the installation of a section of the South Wales Gas Pipeline (also known as the Milford Haven pipeline) under land belonging to the Claimant.

National Grid installed the pipeline in accordance with Compulsory Purchase Orders which were made in March 2006 securing rights over a 24.4 metre wide strip of the land for the purposes of constructing, maintaining and (if necessary) replacing the pipeline.

WFW advises WKN on the financing of the 6 MW “Apensen II” onshore wind farm

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised WKN AG, a subsidiary of PNE WIND AG, on the financing of the “Apensen II” onshore wind farm in Buxtehude, Lower Saxony. The wind farm consists of two wind Nordex N117 turbines with a capacity of 3 MW. The financing was effected by Commerzbank Aktien-gesellschaft, Hamburg. All loans were disbursed in July 2015 and the wind farm will be operational in 2016.

Setterwalls has assisted Arise in the sale of the wind farm Skogaby to Allianz Global Investors

Arise AB has sold the wind farm Skogaby, located in the south of Sweden within the
municipality of Laholm, to a fund managed by Allianz Global Investors. The wind farm has a total effect of 7,2 MW.
As part of the transaction
Arise will operate the wind park
on behalf of Allianz Global Investors for a period of five years.

Arise, which is listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm, an energy company selling electricity produced in their own and co-owned wind farms together with selling and operating wind projects.

Hengeler Mueller advises DONG Energy on the divestment of a 50 per cent stake in offshore wind farm Gode Wind 1 to Global Infrastructure Partners and on the structuring of the financing

DONG Energy signed an agreement to divest of a 50 per cent stake in the German offshore wind farm Gode Wind 1 with Global Infrastructure Partners. The purchase price amounts to approx. €780m.

Global Infrastructure Partners will in part finance the acquisition by issuing “green bonds” to a consortium of German insurance companies let by Talanx. DONG Energy is currently constructing the project with a capacity of 55 turbines and 330MW and will provide operation and maintenance services and market the power production.

CMS advises PGNiG SA on obtaining financing for Norwegian company PGNiG Upstream International AS

CMS has advised PGNiG SA on obtaining financing for Norwegian company PGNiG Upstream International AS. The company will receive funding of USD 400 million.

According to PGNiG, financing was obtained from 8 banks and will be used primarily to repay a substantial portion of PGNiG Upstream International AS’s existing debt. In addition, it will enable the Norwegian company to flexibly develop plans for exploration and production activities as well as aid the implementation of the plan to develop two new oil and gas fields.
